Although we have celebrated St. Patrick's Day in many ways, there are three things that always happen
The kids wear green. That is to say, they come out of their bedrooms fully dressed and looking for the sleepy adult or other sibling who forgot to wear green, so they can pinch them. Generally speaking the girls are far better at this, and the boys end up being pinched and claiming that the green pin stripe in their boxers should have excluded them from such punishment.
Bloodhound turns the milk green. I don't know when he got this idea or where it came from, but green milk is just plain gross. The kids always laugh and I am sure you can use your imagination as to what green milk looks like when added to coffee.
We always eat corned beef with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes and Irish Soda Bread. Well, I eat the sauerkraut...the kids and Bloodhound just tolerate it.
Now it is your turn...
Link up your St. Patty's Day traditions or any post on the following topics. If you don't have a blog you can respond in the comment section.
1. Language Arts - Many home school parents teach this subject as part of the other subjects in their children's day. In this way, it is not a separate subject. How do you feel about this? Do you feel that it is best taught as part of the overall curriculum? Or do you like to incorporate it? This prompt is inspired by "Live Life With Your Kids."
2. St Patrick's Day - What are you planning? Crafts? Writing assignments? Will you be cooking corned beef? Write about anything St Patty's Day related and link up with us next Wednesday.
3. Good Home School Books - What are you reading that is impacting your home school? Post about it and share it here next week. And if you are listening to the audio version that counts, too. This prompt was inspired by "Life at the Wiseman's"
4. Dr. Suess - Did anyone celebrating his birthday on March 2nd with activities? Post about your lessons and games etc and link up with us. This prompt is inspired by "Earth Mama's World."
Tomorrow is Give Away Thursday. Come back to Hammock Home School and enter all of the great drawings. If you haven't already, check out this week's give aways.
